Abstract: Volume II/25 is a supplemented and revised edition of the preceding volumes II/7, II/15, II/21 and II/23 containing up to date information on inorganic and organic polyatomic molecules. All experimental methods for the determination of quantitative structural data of free molecules have been considered: microwave, infrared, Raman, electronic and photoelectron spectroscopy as well as electron diffraction. The data obtained by these methods have been critically evaluated and compiled. They are presented separately for each molecule, together with a schematic figure of the structure and the original literature.

Abstract: Photoelectron spectroscopy has matured considerably during the last decade. The experimental techniques were improved markedly. Photon line sources and,in particular, synchrotron radiation sources are now routinely available in many places. The volume summarizes data on the bulk electronic structure of solids. Besides the photoelectron results, a limited set of other data (such as lattice constants and work functions) useful in the context of band structure information is presented.

Abstract: Volume III/27 covers the magnetic properties of non-metallic inorganic compounds based on transition elements. It can therefore be considered as a supplement to volumes III/4 (1970) and III/12 (1978-82) and as a counterpartto volume III/19, in which the magnetic properties of metals, alloys andmetallic compounds are compiled. III/27j deals with halides. In the present subvolume III/27j1 data are compiled for the halides having the general chemical formula MXn, where M represents a 3d-element and X a halogen element. Also graphite compounds intercalated by these transition metal chlorides have been included.

Abstract: The magnetic properties of halides have been compiled in subvolume 27J. The third part, 27J3, contains data on structural and magnetic properties of halide perovskite-type layer structures of the types A2MX4 (monolayer compounds), A3M2X7 (double-layer) and A4M3X10 (triple-layer) where X=F-, Cl-, etc.; M=Mg2+, Cr2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, etc.; and A=K+, Rb+, Cs+, etc. In addition, for X=Cl- and Br- data are presented on compounds where the alkali ions are replaced by n-alkylammonium chains, and also for diammonium compounds where two alkali ions are replaced by divalent alkylene-diammonium ions. A brief sketch of the theory of phase transitions and of the relevant models (2D Ising model, 2D XY-model, 2D Ising spin glass) is also given as well as a comprehensive selection of data on critical properties near the phase transitions.

Abstract: Some years after the publication of Vol. III/11 and its supplement III/18 dealing with elastic, piezoelectric, pyroelectric and optical properties of crystals, a complete recompilation of the data of these volumes and of new data was performed. Because of the growth of this subject matter it was found convenient to divide the material into four volumes, III/29a and b for the low frequency properties and III/30a and b for high frequency propertiesof dielectric crystals. The first subvolume III/29a contains exclusively second and higher order elastic constants including temperature and pressure coefficients.

Abstract: Volume 43 of Group III deals with crystallographic data of both intermetallic and classical inorganic compounds, thus forming an update of the former Landolt-Börnstein volumes III/6 (Structure Data of Elements and Intermetallic Phases) and III/7 (Crystal Structure Data of Inorganic Compounds). It does not include compounds that contain C-H bonds. Moreover, in contrast to the earlier edition the present volume presents the data in a different, more modern arrangement - known crystal structures are combined in groups according to their type of structure; each structure type is therefore represented by a complete set of crystallographic data holding for all isotypic structures, with the data comprising space group, cell parameters and atom coordinates. Remarks, descriptions and figures are provided where necessary. The present subvolume A1, which utilizes the databases TYPIX and Pauling File, forms the first contribution to volume 43, which is going to be published in a series of subvolumes.

RefComment: 1 fig., XXXII, Hardcover
Abstract: Volume III/7 contains structure data on those compounds which contain at least one of the elements F, Cl, Br, I, O, N, and P and cannot be called "organic". The structure data of the remaining inorganic compounds and the elements are dealt with in volumes III/6 and III/14, while the organic compounds are treated in volumes III/5 and III/10. The systematic arrange-ment is based on the anions ordered according to "key elements", since this system allows the arrangement of the crystal structure data in such a way that both chemical and crystallographical relationships can be recognized. Structure data are compiled as completely as possible for all inorganic substances, where crystal structures have been examined by means of X-ray, neutron, and electron diffraction, and for which at least the lattice constants have been determined.
